So many calculators, so little time…

So many calculators, so little time…

Colomb et al., 2013’s decision process for selecting a GHG emissions calculator.

There are so many tools out there for assessing GHG emissions, so a concise way of selecting the best one for your purpose is vital.

Colomb et al., published a research letter back in 2013 that provided a framework to guide users in their decision.

This decision process, displayed in the graphic above, states four clear steps in finding an appropriate calculator.

  1. Establish an aim: My aim is to assess the GHG emissions with and without AWD implementation.
  2. Geographic setting: Vietnam.
  3. Scope: Rice GHG emissions (specifically methane).
  4. Time and Skills: I really am on a time crunch here! 😅

We have selected two calculators from the four I have been studying for the purpose of my research.

.

I will be using these to assess the mitigation potential of AWD!
