Goodbye and god bless

Goodbye and god bless

Time to say goodbye to the country that unexpectedly stole my heart.

Just a year ago, before beginning this course, Vietnam was not even on my radar as a place I needed to visit. Now after three months I don’t want to leave!

Between all the research and data analysis over the summer I managed to visit all the corners of the country I could manage.

Spending most of my time in around the Red River Delta in the North I got to see Ninh Binh, Halong Bay and live lakeside in the bustling city of Hanoi where you’d often find me in a quirky cafe working or relaxing.

Often more relaxing than work by the lake.

I got the opportunity to visit the provinces of Can Tho and An Giang on the Mekong Delta in the South.

And finally to celebrate the end of my internship I paid a visit to Central Vietnam with Hoi An and Danang!

There are many things I will miss like the food, the weather, the four newts that forcefully established a home in my room, thus becoming my pets (Newton, Lizardo, Charmander and Lizzie McGuire you will be missed), and the colourful culture! I have only scratched the surface of the things that can be done in Vietnam and will most definitely be back in the future!

But for now I am on the final leg of my journey home to good old Cork!
