Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!
So at long last, I am in Hanoi!
It was a long journey yesterday wherein I was awake for almost 26 hours, experienced jet-lag for the first time, learned I’m am pretty good at crossing roads in the chaos, and mopeds are driven on footpaths too… 😂
I am now settling in at my desk in CCAFS-SEA with IRRI!
Today I will continue to work on reading some more literature and work on getting to know how the two GHG calculators to be used in my thesis tick.
Ex-ACT (Ex-Ante Carbon Balance Tool) is a commonly used tool developed by the United Nations FAO, I met it briefly back in February in another module.
SECTOR (Source-selective and Emission-adjusted GHG CalculaTOR for Cropland) is a tool that is still very young and has seen it’s first publication, also in February (Wassmann et al., 2019). It has been developed by IRRI and I am really looking forward to using this because it’s new and shiny.😅
Theoretically these should both give me similar, hopefully the same, results with any data I input. So today I am going to use a fake data set to test that.
So lets see how this little experiment goes, shall we?
