THEORIZING WEB 2.0

Felicia Wu Song

This author introduced the concept of Web 2.0 and believes that Web 2.0 provides contemporary Internet users with new ways of socializing and expressing, marking a broader social and cultural exchange moment.

The author stated that in online communities, users always show more individualistic characteristics than traditional face-to-face communities. But the individualistic self itself is not produced by the Web 2.0 website. Web 2.0 just provides a new and better expression platform for it. Although the reference degree of users’ speeches is still controversial, the rapid integration of the Internet and mobile communication technologies has continuously changed the nature of online participation and information exchange and has made web 2.0 a development trend.
