Food Security

Zambia is generally food secure and it is a grain basket for a number of Southern African countries. This is mainly due to the good government agricultural policies for example the provision of subsidized farming inputs in form of certified seed and fertilisers to 1million farmers under Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture. The country also distributes for free farming inputs through the Food Security Pack(FSP) to selected resource poor farmers under the Ministry of Community Development and Social Welfare.
