CSA Prioritisation

My thesis write-up will focus on CSA prioritisation. Now that the Malawi CSA Country profile is out for review, a lot of focus is on getting the thesis write-up done.

To maximise synergies and reduce trade-offs, decision support tools are required to facilitate identification of appropriate CSA technological interventions. Though there are relatively few studies in the literature showcasing CSA prioritisation,  there are several tools used in CSA prioritisation that have been developed. These tools use different approaches such as simulation models, expert judgement, household surveys, participatory and other hybrid methods. Examples include; apart from the CCAFS CSA prioritisation framework, Climate-smart agriculture rapid appraisal (CSA-RA) and the “targetCSA”. It is important that these tools are flexible to allow stakeholders to tailor and apply the tools based on their context or level of implementation, for instance, community/national, farmer/expert levels.
