CSA COUNTRY PROFILES

Comments Off on CSA COUNTRY PROFILES

The Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) country profiles give an overview of the agricultural challenges in countries around the world, and how CSA can help them adapt to and mitigate climate change. They are developed by CIAT and CCAFS, in partnership with the World Bank and USAID’s Bureau for Food Security.

The Country CSA profiles provide a New, quick and easy to read document that provides proof that climate-smart agriculture is the way forward. The profiles have four main sections namely:

1.      Key facts: agriculture and climate change

2.      CSA technologies and practices

3.      Institutions and policies for CSA

4.      Financing CSA

So far, the majority cover Latin America, as well as part of Africa and South Asia.

The following profiles are now available:

  1. Latin America and the Caribbean: Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Grenada, Mexico, Peru, Nicaragua and Uruguay
  2. Africa: Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Uganda
  3. Asia: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bhutan, Nepal and the Philippines
  4. Europe: Moldova

The following profiles are currently being developed: Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali, Niger and Malawi.

In the next four months, I will be conducting thesis research for my MSc CCAFS at National University of Ireland Galway. My research will be a great part of Malawi CSA Profile development process and I am excited to be part of this. Through supervision from NUI Galway PABC led by Professor Charles Spillane and my host organisation, CCAFS and CIAT in this project led by Evan Girvetz it will be an awarding experience.

For more information on CIAT-CCAFS work on CSA country profiles contact Evan Girvetz, Project leader.

Follow the posts on this blog as I will keep on sharing my findings and results on CSA Profile for Malawi.  Watch out for CSA quick facts about Malawi in my next blog post.
