About Me

My name is Sarah Quinn, I am a MScCCAFS (Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security) student in NUI Galway. I recently finished my undergrad in Geography and Sociology & Politics in 2019 before I went straight into my masters degree programme.

In the final year of my undergrad as part of my geography module assessments I had the opportunity to undertake a dissertation on the topic of ‘how climate change affects coastal communities, with Kinvara, Co. Galway the case study’. In the processes of researching the literature for my dissertation I only got to touch on a small amount of the challenges of climate change, and realising what a hugely important topic climate change is and how homogenous it is for so many elements of our lives is what drew me to apply for the MScCCAFS course. In addition to growing up in an agricultural background I was interested to learn more about the important relationship between climate and agriculture, and the pivotal role the success of climate and agriculture will play in the future of sustainable agriculture.
