Data news

Hello there,

After a month of being surrounded and dreaming about numbers and more numbers in Excel, I can finally say that I finished calculating all the indicators! After a few hours facing a screen, it is always nice to go outside the office and see this green open space as you can see from the picture above.

Now it is going to start the fun. I started already thinking about what is the best way to present the data. The work that I am doing at CIAT-CCAFS is not only for my thesis, it is also really useful for CCAFS. Once I will have all the graphs, I will meet Ecohabitats Foundation and the community leaders to show them the results of the surveys and have a discussion with them (I will let all you know more information about this once it happens). But, before all these meetings I have to make the pertinent graphs for the indicators taking into consideration gender, CSA practices among others. I will let you know more about all this process!

Last week, I attended a panel about Sustainable food system for Cali “Un Sistema Alimentario Sostenible pa’ Cali – dónde estamos y a dónde vamos?

It was an interesting panel to know more about what has been done in Cali about its food system in the last years. Cali has been affected by the growing urbanization, and there are serious problems of malnutrition. There are different projects and policies that are helping Cali to improve its food systems such as the project that has been carried on from 2015 to 2017 called “Cali come mejor” – Cali better food, and the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact.
