Water

Someone once said that it is anticipated that the next world war would be about water! At face value this sounds like child’s talk but upon analyzing the impacts of climate change critically, I realise water is one of the most limiting natural resources in agricultural production and yet it is either unavailable or over exploited if available. Not only is it vital to agriculture development but to development in general. Different areas of the world today experience water challenges at different levels. Nations struggle to access the resource and the worst is other sectors of development such as industry and manufacturing are affected by water stress. As seasons change the problem becomes more vivid with each day that passes. In tropical climates, for example, the challenge is exacerbated by poor seasonal rainfall. What then should be done? How much longer can the rains sustain the human race? The expectations are that it does so up to infinity. But will it be able to do so? Is that even possible? How much water can one store for future use?
