Just like everything else had to either come to a stop or slowdown, school was also not spared due the corona virus pandemic that brought the world to a stand still. This was a very big challenge as it meant that the world as we all know it had to change. Academically, this meant that i could not proceed with my studies as planned. Certain adjustments needed to be made. classes were virtual and travel was in some cases limited to very few areas for a certain period of time. The emotional stress that came with all the restrictions on movement was unbearable. But the project had to go on. Virtually! Cropping Systems Models such as the Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer (DSSAT ) were the perfect tool for research in such times
- I am a post graduate student at the National University of Ireland Galway, studying a masters program in Climate Change, Agriculture and food Security. Prior to this, i studied agricultural science for my bachelors degree at the University of Zambia. I have worked with smallholder farmers since 2007 for the ultimate goal of improving household food security at farmer house hold level. Before everything else, i am human. As a little girl, i identified with plants and flowers much more easily than any of my peers. I did this not only out of curiosity but with special interest too. I collected them where I could and if they were pretty enough, i gifted them to my mother. Therefore, It comes not as a surprise that as an adult, I have so much interest in plants and vegetation.
