Research Project

Welcome to the project page on my blog!

“Evaluating potential GHG mitigation of alternate wetting and drying from Vietnam rice fields through life cycle assessment”

As stated above, that's my research project title ^^ I'll be working at the "Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences," JIRCAS in short, from mid May until the start of August.

JIRCAS is located in Tsukuba, in Ibaraki Prefecture on Japan's east coast. The town itself is not too far from Tokyo proper, maybe about an hour train ride or so? Not bad at all!

The three main goals of JIRCAS, taken from their official website are as follows:

  1. Undertakes comprehensive experimental research for technological advancement of agriculture, forestry, fisheries and related industries in tropical and subtropical zones of developing regions
  2. Collects, analyzes and publishes information of domestic and international researches which  are relevant to agriculture, forestry and fisheries as well as farming systems in these developing areas
  3. Through the above, JIRCAS seeks to contribute solutions to global food and environmental problems as well as to the stable supply of agricultural, forestry and fishery products and resources
