Bye for now (again) Vietnam

Breakfast, lunch and dinner were planned for every of my last weekend in Hanoi. Then bam, the inevitable happened. I got sick. I was kicking myself for having not eaten enough Vietnamese food, although in hindsight I ate it for every meal besides breakfast. But you can always eat more eh?! I’ve been back for 2 weeks now and as my diet turned into a plate of thesis with a side of coffee and toast I have been having some major cravings. Being a vegetarian in Vietnam definitely limits your options a bit, but there is still plenty to choose from. There are even some places that imitate all the specialities to be vegan and vegetarian-friendly. Pictured below are some of my favourites. The first picture is from a vegetarian buffet and it costs the equivalent to €1.60 (this dish is on the more expensive side). Everyday the menu changes, but some of my favourites are the morning glory, pumpkin, tofu and stuffed tomatoes. The second dish is Bun Dau Mam Tom minus the Mam Tom (fermented shrimp paste!!!). This costs a whopping 80 cent. The last picture is just noodles, some green leaves, and fried spring rolls wrapped in a banana leaf.

Anyway, its good to be back in Ireland and I know that won’t be the last I will see of Vietnam. So its tạm biệt and hẹn gặp lại…for now!!
