Maps illustrating THI based on highest THI index values. as per station it shows that the Limpopo province is the most heat vulnerable region in South Africa. overall the Northern parts of the country show the most vulnerability to heat stress.
Summer Historical and Future THI
Based on overall values seasonal values- THI Index values did manage to get to the alert category of the LWSI (Livestock Weather Safety Index). Showing that the daily values were quite high historically and if “business as usual” continues, Food Security will be questionable and rural livelihoods will be at risk.
