Vectors (ticks are small big problems!)

Generally, ticks prefer the warmth and with climate change, such regions are projected to be warmer. The Rhipicephalus microplus (shaded in red) commonly known as the Bluetick is an important cattle disease vector in tropical and subtropical countries (De Clercq et al., 2015). The tick is a causative agent of diseases such as Anaplasmosis, Babesia bovis and B. bigemina (De Clercq et al., 2015) (common name: Babesiosis or red water) in cattle responsible for huge economic losses. In South Africa, it is present all over the country except the drier regions.
