Thesis: The Impacts of Replacing Trash Fish with Formulated Feed in Chinese Snakehead Fish Production on Nutritional Value and the Environment.

The goal of my research

A proposed approach of changing the conventional animal-based feed type for breeding carnivorous fish to a more sustainable and eco-friendlier one which is mainly formulated feed type. Considering the prevalence of Chinese snakehead fish in China and the rising snakehead fish production activities, it is imperative that the snakehead fish production should go in the right direction.
This research was designed to assess the environmental impacts of transforming the feed type of producing Chinese snakehead fish from trash-fish feed to formulated feed within 3 months.

Objective 1: To assess the feasibility of implying this change from the perspective of nutrition side.

Objective 2: To assess the environmental impacts of implementing this change.

Objective 3: To help build a related database for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of China’s aquaculture practices.
