About Me

Name: Phillimon C. Chipanshi

ICOS Fellow in MScCCAFS - 2020/21 NUIG -Ireland; BSC Agriculture - Rusangu University (Z) & Dip Agric. Edu. NRDC (Z)

After getting my diploma in agriculture and teaching, I was hired as a secondary school teacher in Zambia and later moved to Botswana.  Currently, am lecturer at Mansa College of Education in Zambia, where I also coordinate Production Unit (P.U). I have mentored and taught students over a period of 18 years. I have taught students the principles of agriculture sciences (theory and practice) and the majority of my students became self employed as farmers, some went to colleges of higher learning or joined government institutions. It has been satisfying for me to meet some of my former students who are now leaders in society or working as colleagues.

One big thing in my working career is that I have been more than just a classroom agricultural science teacher. I have had an engagement of agricultural production in schools where I have carried out activities of climate adaptation and mitigation. I have helped in establishing Zero grazing techniques in small livestock, drip irrigation and woodlot establishments. I also run a personal small holder farm where I employ CSA approaches. With studies in CCAFS at the Ryan Institute, I wish to impact more on climate justice in my country, Africa and the world.
