About Me
My name is Martin Ó Conghaile. I am from Leitir Móir in south Conamara, Co. Galway and I am currently studying in NUI Galway as part of the Msc in Climate Change Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS). My background previous to this course was in Arts where I studied Geography and Irish. I do not come from an agricultural background but have a keen interest in climate change and due to agriculture having a substantial impact on global green house gas emissions I wanted to study climate change with regards to that topic.
I took many modules relating to climate and in particular past climates and climate change while studying geography and so decided to further my studies relating to climate change in relation to agriculture and food security. My main interests during my studies included agro-forestry, forestry management, land-use changes and soil management and it is in these areas where I would like to expand my knowledge even further and base my research in such fields. My area of research will be linked closely to lclimate change and will also include all aspects of forestry.
