Agriculture in Ireland
Agriculture is very important to Ireland’s economy with dairy and beef production the main agricultural products being exported throughout out the globe. Ireland has an estimated 6.9 million hectares of land of which 64% (4.4 million hectares) is suitable for agriculture.
Most of the agricultural land is used as pasture or grazing land for livestock and so has a big influence on the shape of the Irish landscape. Ireland’s agriculture has become more and more and more important to Ireland and so it has increased over many years. The changes to the Irish landscape will be further explored and compared to past landscapes to see how agriculture has influenced those changes.
