First post: Key issues raised at the IFIAD 2021

Different issues were emphasized during the IFIAD 2021 conference including;

  1. Complex challenges of SDG 2 – Zero Hunger
  • Global hunger indicates that progress towards SDG #2 Zero Hunger in 2030 will not achieve due to Climate Change and COVID 19 pandemic
  • How to transform our food systems to commit to a comprehensive, integrated and universal transformation
  • Concerns such as how to combating global hunger and malnutrition
  • The need for action to ending hunger and ensure the right for food for all

2. Possible solutions to having sustainable and resilient climate-compatible agriculture and food systems

  • Call for governments and development agencies, private sectors and research bodies to recommit attention to developing well functioning sustainable food systems that contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.
  • How to rebuild agriculture sectors and maintain local food production as they are fundamental preventing loss of lives from severe hunger
