The view of beautiful St.Peter’s as seen from the office roof!

So I’ve (almost!) completed my first month at FAO.

First impressions? Great place to work! I feel privileged to be part of such a talented and enthusiastic group. I felt welcome from the outset and Robert van Otterdjik and the team have been great.

The FAO building is a large, eight floor building located on the picturesque Viale delle Terme di Caracalla in sunny Roma! The area is bathed in sunshine and the temperature is usually in the high 20s. Nothing beats a delicious cappuccino and the iconic view of the majestic Circo Massimo one can experience from the top floor! It has to be seen to be believed. Quite a change for a man from Donegal! The building has multiple restuarants, a bookstore, multiple banks, a travel agent and even a luggage store! I even managed to pick up a book that I had coveted for some time at a bargain price.

Once I got my building pass (security were sick of seeing me twice a day!) things really took off. My supervisor asked me to analyse the INDCs of the Sub Saharan African countries in an attempt to establish whether or not food loss and waste features the climate change agendas of these countries. This work is almost complete so watch this space for provisional results!

Ciao for now!!!
