SeQUEsTER: pathways to net zero GHG emissions

SeQUEsTER (Scenarios Quantifying land Use & Emissions Transitions towards Equilibrium with Removals) is funded by the Irish Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine to explore scenarios towards “carbon neutrality” in the agriculture, forestry and other land use (AFOLU) sector in Ireland. SeQUEsTER will apply a transdisciplinary approach to co-develop with relevant stakeholders potential pathways towards carbon neutrality by 2050 for Ireland’s AFOLU sector, considering bioeconomy innovations. We will apply cutting-edge bioeconomic and consequential life cycle assessment modelling to quantify the sustainability of these prospective scenarios. We will generate a scientifically rigorous evidence base for academic, policy and industry stakeholders regarding the GHG mitigation efficacy and wider sustainability of AFOLU transitions
