Sheep Farm to Fork Launch

Today, I attended the launch of Sheep Farm to Fork 2018. The event will happen on the 7th of July 2018 in Teagasc Athenry. The launch was officially opened by Minister of State Andrew Doyle. This event is the largest sheep event in Ireland and is not one to be missed.

The event will have 10 main villages they are:

  • Flock Health
  • Grassland Management
  • Sheep Breeding
  • Hill Sheep Production
  • Environmental Awareness and Management
  • Agricultural Education
  • Wool and Wool Products
  • Meat Industry and Markets
  • The Science of Farming
  • Health and Safety.

 

Backround into sheep there are 35,000 sheep farmers in Ireland. Galway is the county with the second biggest sheep population. The Sheep Industry is worth 300 million to the economy.
