Hello world!

Welcome to my blog communicating my journey working with the International Center for Tropical Agriculture, known by its Spanish acronym as CIAT. CIAT was founded in 1967 as a research organization dedicated to reducing poverty, increasing food security, and promoting sustainable advancements in agriculture. Originally founded in Colombia, CIAT has now extended its mission and works in over 50 countries throughout the tropics. Moreover, CIAT forms part of the overarching CGIAR network which promotes cooperation and unity among different  organizations dedicated to increasing food security and human nutrition as well as promoting environmental sustainability. More information on these organizations can be found here: https://ciat.cgiar.org, https://www.cgiar.org

As for myself, I am currently a master’s student at the National University of Ireland, Galway, pursing a MSc  in Climate Change, Agriculture, and Food Security. For my master’s thesis, I will be focusing on dietary transitions and their impacts on both human health and the health of the planet. By diets, of course, I am referring to the sum of food consumed by people and cultures, not to fad diets which promote weight loss. I hope that my research can help provide a better understanding of the diets found within countries so as to promote healthier, longer, and fulfilling lives for people that simultaneously benefit the health of the ecosystem. I invite the readers to come along with me on this journey as we discover more about the foundational role that diets play in our lives.
