A visiting researched at CIAT\u2019s Decision and Policy Analysis (DAPA) Department in Colombia, her research is focused on the potential to reduce national\/global greenhouse gases (GHG) through dietary change and transitions to sustainable diets.<\/p>\n<p>A Trinity College Dublin Natural Science (Geography) Graduate, Sinead\u2019s undergraduate dissertation looked at the geography of austerity and its impacts on a new economically vulnerable section of Irish society, boom-time mortgagors.<\/p>\n<p>Sinead has worked on advocacy issues at An Taisce, the National Trust of Ireland and in Fundraising and Communications for Action Aid Ireland. She has previous work experience before her return to University in 2011 that has helped develop and sharpen her communication, rapport-building and teamwork skills.<\/p>\n<p>She became PRO of the CCAFS Society at NUI Galway in 2015. A new society <span style=\"font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: medium\">concerned with raising awareness and action around issues pertaining to Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security. The society is closely linked with the CCAFS research platform and has hosted events such as the NUI Galway Climate Congress,<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Fossil Free NUIG network came into being late last year and Sinead, along with others, has been working with the Director of the network Colin Duffy since then. She currently runs Fossil Free NUIG\u2019s online media accounts.<\/p>\n<p>Sinead\u00a0is passionate about climate change issues and is focused on conducting research that can aid transitions towards sustainable consumption of foods and other products that be utilized within a circular economy model.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><i>I\u00a0applied to college from Australia as a &#8216;mature&#8217; student\u00a0when\u00a0both my partner and I were still debating if <\/i><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-95 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.plantagbiosciences.org\/people\/sinead-moran\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2016\/02\/InstagramCapture_5842b498-a66a-4ced-9bfe-b9e27747e520-263x300.jpg\" alt=\"InstagramCapture_5842b498-a66a-4ced-9bfe-b9e27747e520\" width=\"246\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.plantagbiosciences.org\/people\/sinead-moran\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2016\/02\/InstagramCapture_5842b498-a66a-4ced-9bfe-b9e27747e520-263x300.jpg 263w, https:\/\/www.plantagbiosciences.org\/people\/sinead-moran\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2016\/02\/InstagramCapture_5842b498-a66a-4ced-9bfe-b9e27747e520-768x875.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.plantagbiosciences.org\/people\/sinead-moran\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2016\/02\/InstagramCapture_5842b498-a66a-4ced-9bfe-b9e27747e520.jpg 899w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 246px) 100vw, 246px\" \/><i>we should &#8216;stay or go&#8217;. I was offered a place\u00a0at Trinity College Dublin in 2011\u00a0to study\u00a0Geography and Political Science. I transferred\u00a0to\u00a0study geography\u00a0as my major in 3rd year.\u00a0 Being a\u00a0&#8216;little&#8217; older I wanted to start gaining experience in different\u00a0roles\u00a0that I had an interest in. Thankfully in 2013, both An Taisce, the National Trust for Ireland\u00a0and ActionAid Ireland, a development charity,\u00a0offered\u00a0me positions whilst I was still a student. This provided experience in advocacy, report writing, lobbing, fundraising, client relations and\u00a0communications. Both my studies and personal experience has led me to where I am today.
