I am working at the the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/climate-change\/programmes-and-projects\/detail\/en\/c\/328984\/\">&#8220;Integrating Agriculture into the National Adaptation Plan Programme &#8220;<\/a> in the Climate Change Division.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A National Adaptation Plan (NAP) is a short to medium term plan on adapting a certain industry to climate change. The NAP-Ag programme seeks to get countries to consider doing a NAP for their agriculture sector. This is important as agriculture is the most sensitive sector to climate change while also being a large contributor of GHG emissions.<\/p>\n<p>A NAP is important not only for a holistic approach to guide a adapting a sector, but also important for attaining climate funding. The Green Climate Fund wants a NAP as a roadmap for implementation.<\/p>\n<p>The NAP-Ag programme is a joint effort between the FAO and UNDP seeks to aid countries in creating their NAP-Ag. The aims are,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>developing an integrated adaptation approach and roadmap<\/li>\n<li>supporting key stakeholders in the process, in particular Ministries of Agriculture<\/li>\n<li>defining a baseline on adaptation and identifying climate change knowledge gaps in the agriculture sector<\/li>\n<li>developing and conducting capacity training<\/li>\n<li>identifying climate finance for adaptation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The 8 partner countries are Kenya, Nepal, Philippines, Thailand, Uganda, Uruguay, Vietnam and Zambia.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For More Information on the Programme see this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/3\/a-i5038e.pdf\">brief.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So after a long period of negotiation, Charles Spillane, Peter McKeown and Una Murray have helped me achieve a placement at the FAO in Rome.
