{"id":329,"date":"2019-05-21T03:30:01","date_gmt":"2019-05-21T03:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.plantagbiosciences.org\/people\/annette-cotter\/?p=329"},"modified":"2019-05-29T04:45:04","modified_gmt":"2019-05-29T04:45:04","slug":"329","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.plantagbiosciences.org\/people\/annette-cotter\/2019\/05\/21\/329\/","title":{"rendered":"So many calculators, so little time&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Colomb et al., 2013&#8217;s decision process for selecting a GHG emissions calculator.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are so many tools out there for assessing GHG emissions, so a concise way of selecting the best one for your purpose is vital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Colomb et al., published a research letter back in 2013 that provided a framework to guide users in their decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This decision process, displayed in the graphic above, states four clear steps in finding an appropriate calculator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Establish an aim:<\/strong>  My aim is to assess the GHG emissions with and without AWD implementation.<\/li><li><strong>Geographic setting: <\/strong>Vietnam.<\/li><li><strong>Scope: <\/strong>Rice GHG emissions (specifically methane).<\/li><li><strong>Time and Skills:<\/strong> I really am on a time crunch here! \ud83d\ude05 <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>We have selected two calculators from the four I have been studying for the purpose of my research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-button alignleft\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background has-light-green-cyan-background-color\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fao.org\/tc\/exact\/carbon-balance-tool-ex-act\/en\/\">EX-ACT<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-button aligncenter\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-background has-light-green-cyan-background-color\" href=\"http:\/\/climatechange.irri.org\/sector\">SECTOR<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-very-light-gray-color\">.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will be using these to assess the mitigation potential of AWD!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colomb et al., 2013&#8217;s decision process for selecting a GHG emissions calculator.
